Senior Environmental Technical Advisor/Mentor

Description

Cirrus is looking for a retired or semi-retired professional engineer with 20+ years experience in the Environmental Industry, who would still like to make a difference, doing the fun, interesting and important work that first attracted you to this profession. We have the people who can handle the project management and administrative tasks. We are looking for someone to help guide the project technically, to make sure the important information is obtained and interpreted appropriately. The hours are flexible, and this is a wonderful opportunity to pass on all that knowledge and wisdom you accumulated over your career, to those who value and appreciate it.

Contaminant Hydrogeologist

Description

Cirrus is seeking a Hydrogeologist to conduct all aspects of Phase II Environmental Site Assessments including the design and implementation of drilling and monitoring programs and remedial activities.

The Successful candidate will have a post-graduate education in hydrogeology, 10 years or more of experience in contaminant hydrogeology, and professional certification. This person must possess strong analytical, problem-solving, project management and communication skills; write clearly and concisely; and have the ability to lead and mentor staff in a team-based environment. Experience developing Conceptual Site Models, completing gap analyses and designing data collection programs would be beneficial.

The firm is currently involved in a variety of diverse and challenging environmental projects that range from Brownfield re-developments to legal support files and risk assessment. The option to follow a strictly technical focus, or pursue more managerial responsibility creates a variety of career development opportunities.

Project Engineer/Geologist

Description

Cirrus is seeking project environmental engineer or geologist with 5-10 years direct experience to manage a diverse range of environmental assessment, remediation and Brownfield development projects. 

The successful candidate will have a solid technical background, along with superior organizational and communication skills – be able to develop and execute work plans, track progress versus budget and use creativity to solve problems.  This person must also be self-motivated, and work well in a collaborative environment. A working knowledge of project scheduling and project management fundamentals is a must. The ability to use associated software, such as MS ProjectTM, is beneficial.

As a Project Engineer/Geologist you will work with a variety of Cirrus team members as well as external stakeholders, including regulators, to develop collaborative solutions to challenging projects. Some of the projects you will be involved with include complex, high-profile, Brownfield developments, risk assessments (human-health and ecological) and trans property contaminant migration issues.  You would also meet regularly with clients, facilitate stakeholder meetings, and participate in public consultations.

Required Experience and Educational Background

  • Undergraduate degree, from an accredited University, in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering or Geology. Preference given to those candidates with a Masters level degree in the above referenced disciplines;
  • Eligible to be a registered as a professional member with APEGGA within 6 months of the start date. Preference will be given to those candidates already registered as a professional member;
  • Minimum of 5-10 years directly related experience; and
  • Detailed understanding of environmental site assessment and remediation techniques in various soil types and hydrogeological conditions.

Roles and Responsibilities

Roles and Responsibilities shall include, but will not be limited to, the following:

  • Support senior staff and mentor junior personnel;
  • Develop Phase II environmental assessment projects - including review of current and historical soil and groundwater data;
  • Project manage Phase II environmental site assessments and remediation projects;
  • Assist the Team Leader with developing Conceptual Site Models, Gap Analysis and Design Collection Programs;

Junior Level Environmental Professional

Description

Cirrus is seeking a junior level engineer and/or geologist who has recently graduated or has up to two (2) years of experience.  This person will work with the Project Engineer to develop  sampling, program development, executing Phase II environmental site assessments, building conceptual site models, and assisting the team leader with a variety of project management duties.

Successful candidates will be energetic, organized, self-motivated individuals with excellent communication skills. A basic understanding of project scheduling and associated software would be beneficial.

The firm is currently involved in a variety of diverse and challenging environmental projects that range from Phase I Environmental Site Assessments to Brownfield re-developments and Human Health Risk Assessments.  Excellent training program and the create a variety of career development opportunities.

Candidates must be registered or eligible for registration with APEGGA.
